This video of a sunrise in San Francisco is gorgeous. Seeing the fog come in off the bay is really cool too.

The Oklahoma City Thunder (formerly the Seattle Supersonics) new uniforms were unveiled today and they’re just as funny as the team’s new name. I’m glad they didn’t try and over-do it, but really, who’s in their creative department?
The most inexplicable part is the heavy use of sky blue, which is called “sky blue” because it refers to, y’know, the sky. Which you...

I was present at Shea for the debacle tonight, and depressing doesn’t even begin to describe it. That was my last game at Shea stadium probably - unless the government steps in, or a miracle happens.
Is it wrong to not really trust anything this administration says? I don’t think so. They’ve basically just thrown this absurdly large number out there while saying, “We need this or else,” and they’ve got everyone going berserk. Call me paranoid but isn’t this just more of the same scare tactics they’ve been using time and time again for the past eight...

Barack Obama’s oratory power, strength of character, and subtle understanding of complicated issues have actually served to dissolve a venerable portion of the acidic pessimism that’s been eating into your very soul for eight solid years, causing you to actually begin to believe that maybe, just maybe, nuanced intellectual acumen and the nearly bankrupt American experiment do not necessarily...
Germany Urges US to find Lehman Bros Solution... →
Lehman Brothers going under this weekend is scary stuff. It’s interesting how other countries are even reaching out to the U.S. and saying, “Please get your shit together.” I have a number of banker buddies who work there that I hope’ll be okay, but I’m worried that if Lehman falls, then next will be a Merill, AIG, or WaMu, ultimately sending us into a depression. ...

Using Facebook's 'walled garden' to your advantage
Now I’m just thinking out loud here, but why doesn’t someone create a Muxtape-type service as a Facebook app? Sharing your mixtapes with only your friends on facebook would prevent the rest of the web (well, the RIAA) from seeing any illegal content. Using the open-source Opentape project, someone could probably throw this together in a few hours.
There are ways in which the...
Sickly
One week into September and I’m already sick. Since when do you need a prescription to buy Sudafed? This Sudafed PE stuff that they’re now selling over the counter instead is seriously crap. Allergies aside, Autumn in the northeast is still my favorite season.

Turn your Tumblr into a playlist!
Cool idea, but because of recent actions from the RIAA, I don’t see Tumblr being too happy about a “Muxtape service” that pulls its playlists from mp3s hosted on Tumblr’s servers. Sorry, I’m not trying to be a buzzkill here.. just saying.

Serious Potential in Google's Browser (NYT) →
With so much fuss over Google’s new Chrome browser, this one from the Times provides a decent summary. It seems to me that with Chrome, Google is trying to push and prod Firefox and others into another direction. The big take away:
Really fast Javascript is gamechanging.
